Happy Towel Day! (The awesome power of reading)

I’m a Hitchhikers fan. I have read the books, watched the origional TV series, listened to the audio books and watched the new film. Possibly even in that order. The Hitchhikers Guide is definitely one of those mind altering books that can somehow make the world make more sense,  Or perhaps less sense, but leaving you more accepting of it. To come across a book that seems to make sense of the world, without it being a self help book, [...]

Follow the scream

Ok so a few days ago I posted a poem I wrote when I was under the weather and probably semi-hallucinating.  Well I wrote two.  This one’s a bit darker and I imaged it being said in a gruff London accent to a primal beat. I’m down in the dumps I’m living the dream Just forget All that you’ve seen Don’t have no money Don’t have no home Down in the dumps Lost and alone Hiding in shadows

Review of The Final Prophecy

Laura Hart’s writing style is incredibly lyrical which makes this story incredibly easy to read. Although this was apparent in the Toy Sorcerer, she has managed to refine her style even more. Everything comes together in this book, the characters have fleshed out more, their back-stories are compelling. My favourite character to date has to be Ruthergore, he appears to be a man of many layers, flawed, damaged and utterly believable. The whole affair has become more sinister as the [...]

The A-Z Genres Challenge- Fantasy

Fantasy Definition- a) the creative power of the imagination. b) An unrealistic and impractical idea  • She has this fantasy that someday she’ll write a novel c) Literature- a type of fiction featuring imaginary worlds and magical or supernatural events My Definition of the Genre-   When I think of fantasy in literature my mind tends to skip to dragons, fairies and elves.  But the fact is that any fictional book is fantasy.   Every book contains a world created entirely by [...]

This weeks author- A.E. Marling

Author of- Brood of Bones, Gown of Shadow and Flame Tell us a bit about yourself. As a kid, I would rebel against my parent’s strict bedtime by lying down but then imagining stories for an hour. I had several epics running through my head through my elementary-school years. This habit matured into raging insomnia. Even today, my best story ideas barge into my consciousness when I’d rather be sleeping. When did you first start writing? I wrote my first fantasy [...]

What kickstarted your passion for drawing? I’ve just always drawn. I can remember once when I was like 4 or 5, and I drew a picture of a cat for my Grandmother, and she just went on and on about it. Of course, it was probably the worst cat [...]

This Weeks Author- Belle DiMonté

Author of- Res Primae: A Collection of First Poems and Perigee Moon: Poems from a Pagan Summer    What kick started your craving to be creative? Ah, that was a little seed that was always growing inside me. From my earliest days I was always making stories, drawing, crafting, sewing—and I always loved it. I don’t really remember a time when I decided to become creative, I just always was…I wrote my first story before [...]
